BBC Foundation Bursary
Means-tested bursaries funded by the BBC Foundation to support boys who would otherwise not be able to benefit from a BBC education.
We provide financial assistance through scholarships and bursaries, allowing more boys to benefit from a BBC education.
While both awards provide a fee reduction, bursaries are means-tested and are places specifically set aside for candidates in financial need who would otherwise be unable to access a BBC education. Conversely, scholarships are awarded on merit based on academic, sporting and cultural excellence, irrespective of financial need. Students not yet enrolled at the College are welcome to apply for both scholarships and bursaries.
We are committed to continuing to provide a range of opportunities for boys from diverse backgrounds to benefit from a BBC education.
The Brisbane Boys’ College Scholarship Program rewards students who demonstrate achievement and show potential to succeed in academic, sporting and cultural pursuits who, in turn, will make a significant contribution to the life of the College.
The College awards a number of Excellence Scholarships each year to boys who demonstrate high standards across a variety of schooling pursuits. Excellence Scholarships are available across two categories: Academic Excellence and Co-curricular Excellence.
Excellence Scholarships may cover full or partial remission of tuition and/or boarding fees, with parents required to cover the balance of the account and all other expenses. Excellence Scholarships are subject to a yearly review.
Academic Scholarships are awarded each year to academic high achievers entering into Years 5 to 11 in the year following their ACER Scholarship Examination.
Co-curricular Scholarships are awarded to students entering into Years 7 to 11 who demonstrate excellence in sport and/or cultural and performing arts.
Interviews for short-listed candidates are held progressively throughout the year prior to entry.
The Brisbane Boys’ College Foundation provides a limited number of needs-based bursaries that are open to students entering into Years 7 to 11 seeking to enrol at Brisbane Boys’ College.
All bursaries are means-tested and, unlike scholarships which are solely merit-based, are specifically set aside for candidates in financial need who would otherwise be unable to access a BBC education.
Bursaries may support full or partial remission of tuition and/or boarding fees, with parents/guardians required to cover the balance of the account and all other expenses. Bursaries are subject to a biennial review process.
Brisbane Boys’ College welcomes applications from deserving candidates with a demonstrated financial-need who have the potential to gain the most from a BBC education and who will add to the fabric and history of the College by immersing themselves in the opportunities presented.
