We are pleased to announce that Mr Scott Murphy has been appointed as the new BBC Deputy Headmaster/Head of Senior School and will commence in January 2023.
Mr Murphy’s appointment follows an extensive nationwide and international search to find the best candidate to meet the needs of the College. The selection process was rigorous, hence the lengthy time frame and we are excited to have Mr Murphy join our community and continue the legacy of our wonderful school.
Mr Murphy is currently the Deputy Head of Secondary School at the Australian International School (AIS) in Singapore. The Secondary School contains over 1,100 students from Year 6 to Year 12. Mr Murphy’s role at AIS is the oversight of the pastoral care and wellbeing of all students and staff within the Secondary School. Leading the Wellbeing Team, he provides students at AIS with a wellbeing framework which allows them to flourish in all their activities. Additionally, along with his Heads of Year, he maintains the highest expectations of behaviour of all students.
Of particular interest is Mr Murphy’s work in the domain of Academic Wellbeing – an area in which he has presented at several international conferences; and is completing his dissertation in this field. This philosophy considers how the school can better use data to understand each individual student’s welfare as well as their academic needs to create the most successful environment to allow them to thrive. He has over 18 years of teaching experience both internationally and in Australia, specialising in adolescent development and prior to moving to Singapore held several leadership positions in schools in Victoria.
Mr Murphy is a keen sportsman and is looking forward to engaging with the plethora of activities which are part of life at the College. He will return to Australia with his wife Shannon and their two sons. We congratulate Mr Murphy on this appointment and look forward to welcoming him and his family to the BBC community.
